Trends in the Prevalence Gap of Obesity (Self-reported) between Cities or Provinces, during 2015–2024

In 2024, the age-standardized rate of obesity (self-reported) among individuals aged ≥19 years was the lowest in Sejong-si (29.1%) and the highest in Jeollanam-do, Jeju (36.8%). The prevalence gap of obesity (self-reported) between the highest and lowest rates increased from 7.7%p in 2023 to 7.8%p in 2024 (Figure 1).

*Obesity rate (self-reported): the percentage of individuals (aged ≥19 years) who BMI (kg/m2) is over 25.

Prevalence rates in Figure 1 were age-standardized using the 2005 projected population. In 2019, this data point was not collected.
