The age-standardized prevalence of chrinic kidney disease (CKD) in Korean adults aged ≥19 years was 5.5% in 2023, which was similar to the prevalence of 5.8% in 2022 (Figure 1). In 2023, the prevalence of CKD was observed to be associated with age; the prevalence was 25.1% in people aged ≥70 years (Figure 2).
*Chronic kidney disease: glomerular filtration rate (CKD-EPI equation) ≥60 ml/min/1.73 m2 and urine albumin/creatinine ratio ≥30 mg/g, or glomerular filtration rate <60 ml/min/1.73 m2 among those aged ≥19 years.
**CKD-EPI: chronic kidney disease-epidemiology collaboration.
†Results from 2015 to 2018 are not shown due to the absence of albuminuria.
‡Age-standardized prevalence was calculated using the 2005 population projections for Korea.
